then & now – America uber alles

Dude from Napoleon Dynamite

Bill Owen photographs set the standard for capturing the classic american suburbs. Just beyond the rows upon rows of perfect houses, large haired wives, husbands in bowling leagues and young children playing make believe were lots of people with lots of stories to tell.

The “then and now” comparisons which arose from the decades to follow only serve to make these little time capsules all the more wonderful. Check out some more here – http://www.billowens.com

Jef Aérosol has been one of the main “urban art” proponents in France since 1982. He belongs to the very first “street art” pioneers of the early 80s (Blek le RatMiss.TicJérôme MesnagerSpeedy Graphito, etc.). He spray painted his first stencil in 1982, in Tours (central France) – nicked from Wikipedia.

One of the old skool masters like Michelangelo maybe?

I’ve found his flickr page – dude has been stenciling the Great Wall of China!
